This is the original production of Wakka Wakka, which I composed specifically to produce on the Yamaha MD8 minidisc multitrack recorder. The MD8 is a late 90s home-recorder "portastudio" type of machine, and my fantasy for doing this song was to push that era’s home studio tech as hard as I could to get a “modern” sound out of it, sort of a way to pretend what I would have done then if I knew what I know now. That is no doubt a fool’s game, but mid-life crises aren't usually known for their wisdom. Unfortunately, I got spooked with EQ problems during mix, and instead of releasing the song, I produced it again in the DAW and released that first. Revisiting this version, I think its worth putting out too, if for no reason than to hear the original production and complete the experiment.
